Guge has been let go

Big Joe and Mike are reporting that the oline coach has been let go and that Frank wants to bring in his own guy. Further speculation is that it may have something to do with the claims that Denzelle Good recently made re how badly he was treated by Guge during the tragedy of his brothers death. I haven't found anything official posted online yet. I'd expect this will be an attractive job for someone.

Goodness,

We FINALLY get a good O-Line together and one of the pieces just got yanked away. Sigh....

Well, the bodies are all still here (assuming they re-sign Glowinski) but I hope they respond to a new coach with the same fire they did under Guge.

Walk Worthy,

Not surprising that Reich wants his own guy.

Guge also has a lot of 1 year stops on his resume - seems to wear out his welcome rather fast. Although, in a few cases, he returns to the same team for a second go-around.

Looks like they are parting on good terms via this tweet:

On its face this seems monumentally stupid. This is the best OL I can remember in almost 25 years of watching the Colts. I doubt Reich would make this decision casually so there has to be more to it than just wanting his own guy. Maybe we will learn more in the coming days.

Yes, I don't buy that Frank is an egomaniac that would make a change to something that isn't broken just to get his guy. I suspect there was something credible in Goode's claims that are inconsistent with the character/culture that the Colts are building. Don't forget that the evil hoody fired this guy and coaxed Scarnecchia out of retirement to fix his oline a few years ago after Guge got his chance.

Reich takes a highly collaborative approach to the OL and protection in general. In that situation, it's easy to understand wanting to make a change if the line coach isn't a good fit.

I'm sure this has a lot to do with the Good drama. While I'm sure there's 2 sides to every story, certainly the reports made it seem like Deguglielmo was an ass. (makes sense he was a McDaniels hire)
This apparently caused a rift and even he and Reich were not on the same page.

Twitter-verse is saying its more a fit with what reich wants to do. Gug was hired by mcdouche and may not be in line with reich. Reich is apparently very invloved in the protection plan. They are also saying reich is recommending gug to other coaches. Either way I really hope they get someone good and keep this line progressing

As long as the line protects well I could not care less who our OL coach is. My point is that there are lots of bad OLs in the NFL, every year. We had a coach that oversaw the transformation of a terrible OL into one of the best in the league. I don't know how much to attribute that to Guge specifically. There's Reich's offense, and there's Q and Smith and Glow as new starters, and Kelly was healthy much of the year.

Maybe they'll continue their dominance. If so, great. But this is going to look really stupid if next year the same group of guys take a step back. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Gugs hasnt Been able to stick anywhere. Yes it will look bad if the line play drops off but there has to be valid reasons Reich is doing this. I have no problem with him getting rid of a guy he didn’t hire.
