Cleveland Browns/DeShaun Watson, 2023 Season
o
In my rat's ass of an opinion, Deshaun Watson is a supremely-talented quarterback whose limit is the sky ...... but he needs to stop acting like a knucklehead, and think of the team before his own personal whims. It's possible that his actions in the 3rd quarter of the Browns' loss to the Steelers on Monday Night Football may have cost them the game. (vs. STEELERS, 9/18) The Browns had a 3-point lead in the 3rd quarter of last night's game after their defense had just made a big stop. Their offense was driving near midfield, and was about to try to convert a 3rd-and-9 when Watson inexplicably and flagrantly grabbed and held onto the facemask of a Steelers defender after he had driven him out of bounds. A very makeable 3rd-and-9 turned into a nearly impossible 3rd-and-24. Not surprisingly, the Browns did not pick up the 1st down, and had to punt the ball. Because of the "cause-and-effect" process, we'll never know for sure if that sequence of events may have cost the Browns a TD or a FG ...... but that absurd action on Watson's part may have wound up being the difference in the game. o |

(vs. 49ers, 10/15) A huge win over the previously-undefeated 49ers. The was ) Brock Purdy's first career loss as a starter, ) as he had been 10-0 prior to this game. ) o |

(vs. COLTS, 10/22) The Browns have played 4 good games and 1 bad game so far this season. They beat the previously undefeated 49ers last week, and they beat the Titans and the Bengals by a combined score of 51-6. They had one really bad game against the Ravens, when Deshaun Watson was not playing at quarterback (Watson is questionable for the Colts game tomorrow.) If the Browns beat the Colts in a close game, that will not necessarily be a sign that the Colts cannot compete with good teams, and/or have no chance for a post-season berth ....... this is not the necessarily the perennial doormat Cleveland Browns that the Colts will be facing on Sunday. All of that said, I still believe that the Colts have a good chance to win the game if the offensive line does (at least) a reasonably good job of protecting Gardner Minshew. o |
