The Colts' 2023 Bye Week ...... Games of Interest

o

Any AFC team that is not hopelessly out of the playoff picture is playing in a game of interest to the Colts ...... the one exception might be the Chiefs' game against the Eagles because the Chiefs have a 7-2 record, they are very likely to win their division, and will very likely not wind up in a tie with the Colts at 12-5 or 11-6 overall.

Shouldn't the Phoenix Cardinals be playing the Houston Oilers?.... in 1992?

Looking at tiebreakers (yeah, I know) it seems we have an inside track, since Cincinnati is 1-4 in the conference, while we are 4-3. Add in that the NFC North teams have a lot of games left against each other, we have good odds, if we can win enough games. As they beat each other up, their conference record gets worse. Add in the we need to beat the Texans week 18, and we likely get in, barring stupid losses between now and then.

having said all that, we could lose enough to miss it by a game or two.

(RAVENS vs. BENGALS) ) (Thursday Night Football)

We beat the Ravens.

We were robbed against the Browns.

We need to beat the Bengals and the Steelers when we play those teams next month, although doing so (especially beating the Bengals) is admittedly a very tall task.

Even though the Bengals are 5-4 and the Steelers are 6-3, the Bengals appear to be the hotter team right now after a dreadful start to the season ...... they won 4 straight games from early October through early November, and just barely lost to the resurgent Texans on a last-second field goal to snap that winning streak.

The remainder of our schedule are all winnable games. These last two victories while ugly have put us right back in the playoff race. Call me crazy but I think we are gonna make a serious run if only Minshew pulls his head out.

My apologies for this being off-topic because the game does not involve AFC teams, but if the Lions beat the Bears today it will be the first time since 1991 that they would have 8 wins before Thanksgiving ...... those 1991 Lions made it to the NFC Championship game, and it (1991) was also the season in which a partially-paralyzed Mike Utley gave the thumbs-up signal to the Lions fans in the stadium as he was being carted off of the field.
