The 2022 New York Mets

o

For a large portion of the 2022 season, the Mets were without their two best starting pitchers (Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom.)

In spite of that, the Mets were still in first place in the NL East well past the halfway-mark of the season.

Now, with both aces back on the roster, the Mets are looking to win the division title and make a run at their first World Series appearance since 2015.

One of the most memorable sporting events that I attended was a New York Mets game at Shea Stadium.

I was at Game 5 of the 1999 NLCS series against Atlanta.

The game went 15 innings and ended with Robin Ventura's grand single.

Shea Stadium was shaking from the crowd - it felt like an earthquake.

Too bad Atlanta won the series when they won the next game at Turner Field.

The Mets were down 3 games to 0 in that series ...... they won Game 4, they won Game 5, and they very nearly won Game 6.

They almost pulled of what the Red Sox did 5 years later, against the Yankees.
