Reich has COVID

The Indianapolis Colts will kick off training camp this week without their head coach.

Colts coach Frank Reich tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in quarantine away from the team facility, the club announced Monday.

"I'm excited for training camp, however I'm disappointed I won't be there with the team as we start," Reich said in a statement. "I'm fortunate to be fully vaccinated and I'm asymptomatic. I'm feeling well and I'm looking forward to returning as soon as I'm medically cleared."

Per the NFL's COVID-19 protocols, a fully vaccinated and asymptomatic individual like Reich can return to duty after two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. He will thereafter be tested every two weeks or as directed by the medical staffs.

Colts veterans are slated to report to camp on Tuesday. Indy's first practice is scheduled for Wednesday.

Hope he gets better. Thankfully with two shots (at least I'm assuming) of the vaccination, the odds of him getting really sick from this are very slim.

So why is Frank being quarantined? According to this, he doesn't have to be.

Reich is being quarantined because he tested positive.

The rule that you referenced about not having to quarantine is if the individual has close contact with someone who is COVID-positive.

That rule would cover a situation such as if Coach Reich met with the players when he was COVID-positive. The fully vaccinated players would not have to quarantine. The non-vaccinated players would have to go into a mandatory quarantine period.

Another wake me up for unvaccinated players. If Reich wasn't vaccinated this would be a disaster for the team. He would be out critical weeks. These bozos need to get vaccinated for the sake of this team.

They need to take the unvaccinated through the covid wards, the childrens hospital and see kids on respirators.

Bozo-unvaccer’s need to get the shot for everyone’s sake. Its stupid not to. People get vaccinated for measles, mumps, flu, etc., this shouldn’t be any different. Just get the fucking shot.

Good info, albeit not something that we are happy about.

When all is said and done and the regular season is about to start in September, this scare may wind up being a blessing in disguise if it helps grab the attention of Darius Leonard and the other un-vaccinated Colts players.
