I'm good with that, somewhat sad to see Haeg go. Will be curious to see how he does in Tampa.

The Colts add another veteran CB:

Say it with me, “Vet minimum.”

Does this mean we're approaching cap hell again?! ;)

We could also move on from TY and Houston after this season, depending on their level of play, so...many options. I do think that we have to prioritize getting a Ryan Kelly deal done though. Possibly Marlon Mack as well. |

Only buckner is long term right? Hasn’t everything else been one year? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Castonzo was a 2-year deal. Everything else has been a 1-year deal. Using Spotrac, the Colts currently have $21m unspent in 2020 and will need to use about $6m for 2020 expenses so would be able to roll over around $15m to 2021 if they make no more moves. 2021 cap is expected to be around $209m. Added to the roll-over, this would give the Colts around a $224m cap. Current obligations are only $100m in 2021 including both the 2020 and 2021 draft class. This would mean that the Colts would have $124m in free cap space for 2021. However, while this is a huge number, Colts starter and quality depth free agents in 2021 include: Phillip Rivers Jacoby Brissett T.Y. Hilton Justin Houston Denico Autry Ryan Kelly Qunicy Wilson Marlon Mack Grover Stewart Anthonly Walker Jr. Al-Quadin Muhammad Xavier Rhodes Sheldon Day Malik Hooker (5th year option) Kelly and Mack would need new deals and perhaps Walker and Stewart as "young" home-grown talent on the roster. Older talent in Rivers, Hilton, Houston, Autry and perhaps Rhodes would need decisions on their value to the team going forward. In good shape but lots of decisions needing going forward. |

Low pay, low risk guys whom I would like the Colts to sign to round out the roster heading into the draft:
1. Jadeveon Clowney. Yeah, this is a pipe dream unless we get someone desperate to trade for Jacoby Brissett but he would be a great "stud" to put opposite Houston in 2020. A front four on passing downs of Houston, Autry, Buckner and Clowney? Money. But, it is probably not happening. 2. Jabaal Sheard. If not Clowney, then I would want to bring back Sheard. The DE rotation of Houston, Sheard, Turray, Muhammad and Banogu is what we had last season but with better DT play and, hopefully, a step forward from Turray and Banogu, that group would have better performance in 2020. 3. Mike Person or Evan Boehm. Both former Colts. Both started games for us in either 2017 (Person) or 2018 (Boehm). Both are solid depth choices for the interior of the O-Line. Both are looking for work and would give us a veteran inside presence to have a safety blanket. 4. Eric Berry. Safety is thin, IMO, and a veteran presence with the experience and former play making ability of Berry would be a welcome addition. I would be much more confident in playing a 3-Safety look with Hooker, Willis and Berry than Hooker, Willis and Odum. I don't know his asking price but if reasonable, he would be a good add to fill out quality depth. 5. And if not Eric Berry, 35-year old Antonie Bethea is still available and played pretty darn well for the Giants over the past couple of seasons. The Mike Adams effect, anyone? I don't know how much more Ballard will do in free agency prior to the draft but these are guys whom I think could help the squad and would not break the bank (with the exception of Clowney). |
Id bring back Sheard. He holds the edge, plays good run D, and pushes on pass rush. No, he’s not Freeney. He plays tough run D, always in his gap

What are the changes we resign Clayton Geathers?

I just went to Spotrac and added and subtracted. Not much to it. |

When Sportrac and Overthecap debuted, there was a lot of incorrect information on the websites. They are both a lot better now - but they usually contain a few contract errors per team. These errors are revealed when fans send questions about a contract guarantee or detail to the local reporters and the reporters check with the team for the answer. |
The Colts are expected to sign Fullback Roosevelt Nix today.

One of the extra 3 activated has to be an O-Lineman but 2 extra spots means the possibility of having a blocking FB specalist who has 3 carries and 12 receptions over a 5 year career. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk |
When is the last time we had a FB? I don't even remember.
I like the idea of having one on the roster, especially if he can play ST. Hell, put 2 FB in the back field Big Q and Nix. and make them guess where the ball is going with Mack. |

I would guess the last Colts player listed as a full time fullback was Stanley Havili back in 2013. There have been other guys that have taken snaps at the position for certain plays - for instance, I think TE Ryan Hewitt took some snaps as a FB along with others. |

Are we moving away from 2 tight end sets? Nix's biggest positive is his special team play and blocking.

The Colts have signed TE Trey Burton to a 1 year vet minimum contract per his agent.
