Would Luck come back if Colts made him highest paid in NFL?

It wouldn't shock me if the Colts opened the vault to get him back. Clearly Jacoby Briskett is not the answer.

Maniac 12-23-2019 05:09 PM

Let me call him and see

JAFF 12-23-2019 05:17 PM

Without any inside information or a friend who has a friend.

No.

He has other priorities. Family and God bless him for it

Compared to other franchise quarterbacks, his contract is on the low side.

Because every year the bar goes up and up and up. Money isn't the issue. He doesn't even spend much money. That dude is sitting around reading books and being mr. dad. He has tons of money.

Chromeburn 12-23-2019 06:59 PM

I met a Uber driver who said he might consider it.

Brylok 12-23-2019 08:25 PM

Irsay already gave him a free $25M on the way out the door; he's been compensated more than enough

Which he got by being a tackling dummy for the NFL because his head coach (Pagano) ruined the best talent in a generation

Yep, Pagano and Grigson both. Grigson didn't do shit to address the offensive line, and Pagano stayed with offenses with deep drops and long developing plays which was fucking brilliant behind that shit offensive line.

Grigson did try and fix the o line, but basically failed.

You know how bad this season is when people are fantasizing about Luck and having the umpteenth discussion about Grigson/Pagano. Can't wait to play meaningful football in December again next year.

Manning then Luck and only one Superbowl to show for it. I don't like to reminisce about it.

To answer the OP question, Luck's contract, when signed, made him the highest paid player in the NFL, and he retired. I don't think $2-5 million per year more is luring him out of retirement.

Luck

The Andrew Luck QB ship has sailed... .Colts need to draft a QB in the 1st round and start spending some of cap space on free agents.

They need the right guy for a QB, and there are a couple good ones right now in the NFL who weren't first round picks.

So, just for the sake of argument, what happens if the Colts draft a quarterback in the first 2-3 rounds and then Luck decides he wants to come back round about next training camp?

For the record, I don’t think that happens, but it’s not impossible either.

QB competition? there is certainly the CAP space to carry Luck and a rookie QB.

You would have Luck as the starter and then you hopefully have a quality backup if the draft pick pans out. Brissett can kick rocks.

BTW, your scenario would be cheaper I believe than if Luck just came back and we kept Brissett as backup.

Luck would be the starting Colts QB if he returns....which is highly unlikely. I'd say maybe a 2% chance he returns. He's now married and a father, those events are a paradigm shift in the life of a young man.

This would be my choice. You take Luck back immediately and you groom the youngster for the future. See if you can get a draft pick for Jacoby.

JAFF 12-27-2019 08:10 PM

Luck is NOT coming back. Get over it and move on.

Uhh yeah, I thought I made that clear. It’s a hypothetical.

As I said, it’s highly unlikely, but not impossible.
