Andrew Luck is getting his blindside protector back.

Indianapolis Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo says he'll be back for Sunday's game against Washington after missing time due to a hamstring injury. Castonzo left practice Aug. 3 during training camp after previously sustaining a hamstring injury in July while conditioning away from the team.

Castonzo was asked Wednesday if he would play against Washington and left no ambiguity.

" Absolutely," he said. "No question."

Castonzo returned to practice last week, but was not fully ready to go.

Joe Haeg started at left tackle in his place and will likely move back to the right side with Castonzo's return. J'Marcus Webb, who started at right tackle against the Bengals, was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury,

"I missed one and a half practices last week because I got sick, and that set me back," Castonzo said. That was an issue. Now that I’m full go, I’m feeling good. (The hamstring) is doing well. I don’t have to think about it, which is nice."

Castonzo nearly came back and played in Week 1.

"It was extremely close," Castonzo said. "I talked it over with coaches and doctors. It came down to me going out there having not put any load on it, which would’ve been a really high risk, that’s what we decided on."

Try sooner. He's now not going to play Sunday, according to Chappell on JMV.

omahacolt 09-13-2018 07:46 PM

That's the next step in the flow chart for injuries to high-profile Colts players.

First he has to have microfracture and they have to then list him as day to day for 6 months... then he can be placed on IR.

Coltsalr 09-14-2018 01:07 PM

And out:

Stephen Holder
@HolderStephen
Frank Reich: Castonzo, Autry, Milton and Good are OUT vs. Washington.

Coltsalr 09-14-2018 01:09 PM

Stephen Holder
@HolderStephen
Reich: "I think it was a minor setback." No consideration of IR at this point on Castonzo, he says.

omahacolt 09-14-2018 01:35 PM

He will be on ir soon

24 hours after the team announces he's starting probably.

1965southpaw 09-14-2018 03:07 PM

They are saying Clark on Andrew's blind side and Haeg on the RT.....Lord help our Colts and Andrew's health.

Chromeburn 09-14-2018 03:17 PM

We'll see Castonzo's obituary in the paper, he will still be listed as questionable.

omahacolt 09-14-2018 05:06 PM

I actually think Clark can do the job. Physically that is.

Not sure if he will come to play though.

Does this mean Mack is a go?

For one or two plays before he gets injured again.

JAFF 09-15-2018 03:27 PM

From ESPN:
Quote:

Colts starting left tackle Anthony Castonzo had a "minor" setback with his hamstring and will miss Sunday's game at Washington, coach Frank Reich said Friday. Castonzo did not practice Thursday or Friday after being limited in practice Wednesday. He originally injured his hamstring in the first week of training camp in early August. The Colts are dealing with injures at tackle. J'Marcus Webb, who started at right tackle in Week 1, was placed on injured reserve earlier this week with a hamstring injury. Joe Haeg started at left tackle in Week 1. The Colts could go with rookie Braden Smith or Le'Raven Clark at right tackle or slide Haeg to right tackle and play Smith or Clark at left tackle.
Monday they will release the news his leg was amputated

I told my wife AC wasn't playing, she looked at me and said:"did he get his period?"

AC has been one of the most durable players the colts have had since he was drafted.

Her comment was dumb

Add a LT to the draft list. Need to start grooming someone.

Sunday against the skins we just need to be run heavy, regardless that we suck at it, & quick passes. I don't even care about the W just keep Luck healthy.

In 2019 Ballard better draft great, not just good but great & quit being a tight ass, spend some money to bring in real NFL talent.

Players get hurt. You have to keep playing. Obviously you adjust your game plan a bit with a backup LT but you play to win. We won’t be able to run on them. Going to have to pass a lot.

I'm hoping he was close last week but that they decided it would be better to save him for this week. Haven't heard any updates.

FatDT 09-19-2018 11:23 AM

Clark at least proved he is not a complete disaster at LT. So it is not necessarily the emergency I thought it was. Still need him back sooner than later though.

YDFL Commish 09-19-2018 08:27 PM

Nope, AC sat out practice today.

Must have been more than a "little" setback last week! Omaha might be right when he said to look for the Colts to place him on IR.

IR? He may not survive.

CanuckColt 09-21-2018 06:37 PM

Looks like Castonzo is rapidly becoming irrelevant to the team.
A player with his salary better be durable or it's Castonzo gone-zo.

Chaka 09-21-2018 07:40 PM

I hate this thread title - I keep thinking an announcement has just been made that he's good to go after all.

Jesus Christ, AC has started 105 of the 112 regular season games since he was drafted, let's not pretend he has been a chronic injury problem.
