He made all his kicks. Where is Matt Gay?

Are you asking where was Matt Gay the other night?

He was at the stadium and warmed up before the Eagles preseason game.

I think the Colts decided to feature Havrisik thinking that it may lead to a tryout with another team.

He also took a piss in the men's locker room, right before he fucked one of the Colts cheerleaders.

Yes, I asked where he was during the game. I'm not the head coach, but if I was, I'd have my first team kicker playing. Havrisik is cut either way. But it's the Colts, so what are you gonna do...

Gay was going to be the guy from the get-go, he is an established vet, nothing to gain from playing him, let the kid getting cut show something.

Since the guy shanked a 28 yarder in the first preseason game it probably would have been a good idea to get he and his new holder more in game reps before it actually starts counting.

So much for Ekiyor being this great find. Too bad none of the OGs in the draft had a high enough RAS score to get Ballard's dick hard enough to spend 1 of 12 draft picks on one of the weakest position groups in the NFL

Surprised Washington is gone already.

Wonder if DJ Montgomery, who lead us in receiving in the preseason, makes the team.

Frankly, I don't know if I care about any of the WR5 options - I think most would go unclaimed and make it to practice squad other than maybe Carolina (Reich) or Philly (Sirianni / Brady) making a claim on Strachan. It doesn't sound like any of the WR5's really stood out this training camp / preseason with their Special Teams play.

I would be more concerned about carrying 5 TE's right now just because we don't know how severe Jelani Woods hamstring tear is and how soon he will be back to playing. Just the other day, Nate Atkins found out and revealed that Woods partially tore his hamstring (it was not just a strain). And the Colts have been less than clear about the injury and when they think he will be back.

If he hasn’t put it together yet he probably won’t. I love how we take flyers on these athletic freaks. Hopefully we hit on one every once in a while

Looks like some interesting OL got cut that could help us: Wes Martin, Yodny Cajuste, Greg Little, Bobby Evans and Jalen Mayfield.

Oh yeah, Specs was cut by the Bucs.

AlwaysSunnyinIndy 08-29-2023 04:50 PM

The Colts have formally announced all of their roster moves to reach 53.

Besides Danny Pinter, the Colts placed LB JoJo Domann, DE Titus Leo, and TE Ricky Seals-Jones on IR - they will miss the entire season.

The major surprise for me was that they waived CB Darius Rush although I realize that he missed a ton of practice time due to injuries.

Yeah, I'm sure there will be a few changes to the roster over the next few days.

Besides OL help, I wonder if they are looking at a waiver pick-up for WR5 since they only kept 4 WR's on the initial 53 man roster.

Noticed that the Eagles released WR Britain Covey - he was their primary punt returner last season.

Oldcolt 08-29-2023 06:13 PM

No way we are keeping 5 tight ends and 4 wide receivers. Lots of churning still to come

I agree. But injuries at TE are kind of dictating that.

Yeah, depending on the severity and recovery timetable for Jelani Wood's partially torn hamstring, the Colts may place him on IR tomorrow. He would have to miss a minimum of 4 games if he hits the IR list.

If he is close to returning, the Colts may try to work around his injury.

IndyNorm 08-29-2023 07:45 PM

Rush is a big surprise. I'm also surprised that we kept Hambright over Skipper as well as 10 DL and 6 LBs. Guessing Stuard, McCrone, and Olubi showed better at STs than Rush or any of the WRs did.

As already discussed I wouldn't be surprised if Woods is put on the IR tomorrow to make room for our first waiver claim.

Agreed. You have to start producing at some point. Even if it's just on STs. Entering his 3rd year Strachan should be showing something on the field, but since he's not it's probably best to move on.

ChoppedWood 08-29-2023 09:21 PM

They were talking about this on the JMV show and man I think it warrants even more call out.

This motherfucker Ballard has had 7 years to build this WR room and here we are- we have 4, 4 fucking WR's on our 53 man roster and we have to be very honest- there is not a WR1 among them!

It is appalling that this guy continues to head up this team's personnel decisions. He flat out sucks!

omahacolt 08-29-2023 09:54 PM

i have to say

for all the money and draft picks we have had available, this is a very underwhelming team. where is the talent? what position group is great? what is this teams strength? i don't see it anywhere

Fucking zero explosiveness. Downs could pop as a rookie and show some of the quicks he is known for to do some YAC damage especially with AR able to extend plays, but outside of that, zero fucking high power weaponry outside of AR. Huge mistake letting Ballard come back again. We have no depth anywhere! We're basically going to have a defensive backfield full of rookies and misc young dudes.

Disgraceful this dude still has a job.

Hey now. We have Pierce who can run down the sidelines and drop contested passes (since he can't get separation). He might draw a PI call every now and again though........

Zero leadership (maybe Buckner). Zero team identity. I'm hoping Steichen can establish something. Nobody else can/has.

Obviously it is very early in their careers to be making comparisons since sometimes it takes WR's a little longer to develop, but if you look at Pierce's production from his rookie year vs the next 10 WR's drafted, it appears the Colts made a decent choice.

Pierce: 16 games, 41 rec, 593 yds, 2 TDs

Moore: 16 games, 22 rec, 250 yds, 0 TDs

Jones, Jr: 12 games, 7 rec, 107 yds, 1 TD

Tolbert: 8 games, 2 rec, 12 yds, 0 TDs

Bell: 16 games, 24 rec, 214 yds, 0 TDs

Gray: 13 games, 1 rec, 10 yds, 0 TDs

Ezukanma: 1 game, 1 rec, 3 yds, 0 TDs

Doubs: 13 games, 42 rec, 425 yds, 3 TDs

Austin: 0 games, 0 rec, 0 yds, 0 TDs

Shakir: 14 games, 10 rec, 161 yds, 1 TD

Washington: 15 games, 4 rec, 2 yds, 0 TDs

Once D Coordinators got some film on him and realized his route running limitations he pretty much disappeared. 197 yards for the final 8 games of the season, and 86 of those were in the blowout loss to Dallas. I know it's just preseason, but it doesn't look like he's improved at all. Straight down the sideline, no separation, and dropped passes. He was playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers in Philly, and he still couldn't get any separation.
