Swoope to IR

Not a total surprise Erik Swoope (knee) goes to IR. Can be brought back after 6 weeks. No longer have to 'designate' for return off IR. I thought it was a surprise. Haven't really heard much about the injury until now. |
Suck for Rosen, Suck for Darnold, Suck for whatever reason you want to provide- but rest assured we are gonna suck!

In Edge's case he was none too happy with the Colts for the misdiagnosis and I recall there being some bad blood that the injury may have been made worse by him practicing after dr's botched it. To me, and this is just my read on his demeanor and nothing more, but Luck doesn't strike me to be the type that would want to play this game but would instead want to be free spoken about what is taking place. This team has consistently been really bad about acknowledging the severity of injuries and then playing coy with the truth afterward. I used to think it was a Polian thing, now I think it's an Irsay thing and it has everything to do with butts in seats. You tell me, what are they gaining by being this clandestine and playing all these games??? This insanity with the HC saying he hasn't even seen him throwing (there may be some truth because I am not sure Chuck even attends practices at this point...) and Luck basically saying nothing at all- it all just seems so damn idiotic. Look we know his shoulder has been injured, so does every DC, so does all 11 guys opposite the LOS from him on every single snap- it's the NFL, that shoulder is going to be a target now. What, by not talking about it are these guys NOT going to come after him to see if he's damaged goods???? |
Not looking real promising...

I knew I wasn't misremembering things... yes, Edge was unhappy based on them having him practice despite his knee being shredded beef. There's precedent with this organization and I don't think it's a GM thing, I think it's an out to lunch owner thing. |
BTW yesterday on DD Chappel was on. Look its Dacich so it is what it is (damnit now I am "Chucking"...). Regardless he said he had spoken with three football guys that morning who all expressed the same concern- no one has yet heard Andrew Luck on the record talking about how he's chomping at the bit to get out there and play football. Talking about how he knows the team needs him and he knows he has to find a way to get on that field and make it happen. Assuming this is legitimate, I find this intriguing and think whatever you want- but my take is this guy has got to be tired of the crap ass line that has been "built" around him over and over again- and appears to be the same haphazard crap constructed by Ballard this year- and possibly even worse this year [undrafted FA center starting game 1].

If you are this once in a generation talent and you've watched the madness of this front office situation- starting with an owner that let's be real- is out of his head and needs to be sent to pasture, and each week having to learn the names of the 5 guys protecting you (I think I heard that we had 10 different starting combinations last year and i am not mistaken of Lucks starts something like 63% of them have been a different OL combo) and then seeing your coach pull lunatic moves like NE while constantly spewing absolute cliched horse shit drabble over and over... yeah I'm not sure how invested I would be either! He has like what $170 million reasons to kinda be a little disinterested... |

i think if luck had serious issues with his protection, there would be changes in 1) the dudes on the line. more money for vets and not developmental dudes 2) scheme change to a more west coast offense. |

This was told in context of how Matt Ryan can overcome the crushing defeat they suffered in the Super Bowl only 9 months ago. Quote:

No, I don't even think they misdiagnosed his injury, I do however question if they've been truthful about 1). The severity at the time of disclosure (no way an NFL team would EVER be guilty of such a thing...) and 2). How successful the surgery and rehab has been (here I absolutely believe it's all about Irsay not wanting empty seats on Sunday's...). FWIW Ross Tucker stood in for Dan Patrick today and there was a good segment on the treatment of injuries at the college level vs the NFL. He said in college when he blew his MCL it was sort of a quick- "nope, you are done" from the doctor. However in the NFL he watched a teammate with a fractured knee cap be pressured to practice- being told it was just a bruise, and literally falling down and screaming in pain because he couldn't put weight on it. The team's perspective, and he said this is just the way it is in the NFL- it's your job to get out there and play. Do I think Luck is a competitor, a hell of a teammate and someone that would love to be out there, yes I do. I think that KC game spoke volumes about the guys heart and all the runs where he has been destroyed battling for an extra yard- tremendous desire to win. However do I also think this team is complete shit and that the people running it from the owner (go away Jim) to the GM (and I am absolutely including Ballard until proven otherwise) to the coach (who I have a huge sample to use as my evaluation point) have failed this guy---- absolutely. |
