Bryce Young is just over 5-10 and 204 pounds

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...hs-204-pounds/

Im taller than that

Dam8610 03-04-2023 11:45 AM

5101, just 5/8" taller than my 5096 guess. Kyler Murray is the only example of an NFL QB near that height. Russell Wilson is nearly a full inch taller. The weight is less concerning than reports, though. I think Ballard is too measurable minded to draft Young. I think he goes up to 1 for Stroud now. That's sad, I really wanted Calijah Kancey at 35, but that pick will probably have to go.

ChaosTheory 03-04-2023 12:27 PM

He's nearly identical to Kyler Murray.

KM: 5'10 1/8", 207lbs., hands 9.5"

BY: 5'10 1/8", 204lbs., hands 9.75"

The weight was more important to me than the height. Height is important but we've seen enough short guys excel. But 194lbs. is already tiny and I was curious if even that number was embellished.

204lbs. is still small. I've seen people compare him to Mahomes as far as maneuvering... but Mahomes almost got knocked out of the playoffs. I don't know if a much smaller guy survives those kinds of things.

Brylok 03-04-2023 12:40 PM

Napoleon was 5'6"

Hoopsdoc 03-04-2023 12:40 PM

Just from watching YouTube highlights, I want Young. He’s better than Stroud or Levis, in my admittedly hastily formed opinion.

I disagree with better than Stroud. He's leagues better than Levis, about equal with Stroud, which is why Stroud wins out for me because the measureables become the tiebreaker.

All of these guys have red flags. If you believe in your coaching staff then stay put and pick the best guy at 4. Let your staff develop them.

Do we really have 2 years to wait on Richardson or Levi’s though?

Stroud or Young can make this team playoff contenders year 1 IMO

Maybe thats why he was short sighted at waterloo?

smitty46953 03-04-2023 04:19 PM

Kid had to be water logged, he looks 185-190 at 5'10" ? Bet he gulped a couple gallons this morning?

YDFL Commish 03-04-2023 04:49 PM

Levis says he hasn't even talked to the Colts?

rcubed 03-04-2023 05:06 PM

I just feel like stroud is who ballard is targeting.

YDFL Commish 03-04-2023 05:11 PM

AR15 is lighting up the combine!

Very optimistic unfortunately. Somewhere I put up a post about when these marque QB's really start to demonstrate the traits that make the team theirs- yes that's a very loosely quantitative statement about converting to PO team, and it that data showed that it is generally at the last Quarter of their 2nd year. It was really great feedback reviewing I think all the top 5 drafted QB's over the last 20 years or something. Rare is the highly drafted young QB who steps on the field and transforms the bottom dwelling team.

ChoppedWood 03-04-2023 06:27 PM

AR 4.43, looks enormous, threw with over 60MPH velocity. Had one bad throw to the sidelines. Whhhhhew boy.

Will say Stroud has looked very very polished- looks like he has pro polish to him.

ChoppedWood 03-04-2023 06:53 PM

Stroud's deep ball- terrific!
Richardson has a cannon too- one hung up a little but but damn the man has a launcher.

I'd go Stroud then Richardson but I wouldn't move up to get one of them.

Good, keep it that way. No thank you to Carson Wentz 2.0.

Ballard is a measureables guy, and I think that's going to make the difference for him.

Richardson has quite the impressive set of tools, but the Colts don't have the 2 years he needs to let him sit and develop.

Stroud seems like the most Day 1 ready starter since Joe Burrow.

Does he have room to grow? Manning and Luck got better as they plaed more games. Does Stroud get better or is this as good as it gets?

I think Stroud improves the same way both of those two improved upon entering the league: by being a film junkie and learning the tendencies of opposing defenses and players and how to counter those things. He certainly has a lot to learn in that regard.

Dewey 5 03-04-2023 08:56 PM

Stroud & Richardson both jumped Young today, imo. Ballard is going to have to grow some balls & trade up if he wants either of them.

Everyone has room to grow.... it's the willingness to grow. Stroud seems to have the willingness. You are taking a chance on all of these guys. Let's hope that the coaches and our GM pair up the right QB with this team.

Without the wheels or Kyler's athleticism.

Colts drafted a guy a couple years ago, they didn't talk to him at all.

Brylok 03-05-2023 02:04 AM

Ricky Henderson was 5'10", 180 in his playing days. Played left field and hit leadoff though.

He wasnt the brightest bulb in the box. He never learned and of the signs for running the bases

apballin 03-05-2023 09:46 AM

I just worry about Jeff Simmons landing on Young 1 time

ChoppedWood 03-05-2023 10:53 AM

Didn't know the Richardson story until yesterday. Pretty impressive display of overcoming long odds. With him you know you are getting a guy that appreciates the struggle and the dedication to become something great, a lot to be said for that mentality.

Ricky says Ricky painted the signs.

Doesn't seem so. Although, I've read he's a low 4.5 guy, which is what Hurts is. Fast for a QB. But Murray was a sub-4.4 guy. Hand timed, so it could be off. But we saw first hand how he could run.

That's it. Being short doesn't mean you can't play. But being small means if someone does get a hold of you, it's going to fucking hurt.

I also honestly don't know how much I trust the 204lbs. Speculating, but I have a feeling they wanted to make weigh-in look good, but playing weight might be sub-200lbs. again. I don't know.

You must be a huge buckeye fan. It is the only thing I can figure with the dick riding of Stroud. If he is drafted I will root for him to be the best QB in the league, but he won't be.

When they kept showing him in his QB group, man the size difference was staggering. There was a clip with Stroud standing next to him (a really good moment for Stroud because it showed him as sort of a "team guy" because he put his arms around Young and pointed to him in that sort of "this the man right here" way which speaks to his confidence)- when he did that, Young literally looked like a hs level athlete compared to Stroud's size.

No way in hell am I taking him after seeing that.

Maybe not the best Qb in the league but he is the best Qb in this draft class.

The bar has not been set to awfully high this year.
