So borderline project. Injured player. No LT.

Pick In, first for the #Rams: With pick 57 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, the #Rams are selecting WR TuTu Atwell

Chromeburn 04-30-2021 09:01 PM

Twitter is saying there are health concerns for Jenkins. More than just his hip but lots of things.

We just get part of the picture

But Dayo is even more productive than Kwity. 12 sacks vs 11.5 !!!
Super Bowl I tell ya!

Could've taken Teven at 21 and gotten Kwity at 54, probably.

Chromeburn 04-30-2021 09:04 PM

I think the Titans took the guy we wanted... again

apballin 04-30-2021 09:05 PM

Yep feels a lot like our season last year, tried to get cute and botched the situation.

Replacing Costanzo was priority #1 yet we chose to replace Houston and Autry. Ballard tried to get cute this should’ve been a fuckin slam dunk

Yeah, last week Al Breer had indicated that his back was a major injury concern, too

Voosh 04-30-2021 09:06 PM

I think Ballard was taking BPA from their board. I was hoping for a tackle but it didn't seem to fall right. I can definitely be a Colts' pessimist but I'm in wait and see mode on these guys. Ballard taking 2 pass rushers in this draft probably speaks to what he thinks about the current situation.

Oh undoubtedly.

Oldcolt 04-30-2021 09:07 PM

Apparently Ballard didn't like the tackles in this class very well. Whoever it is will probably be a big step down from Castanzo. I hope there is a plan

Dam8610 04-30-2021 09:07 PM

They'll clearly sign Villanueva or Okung now.

Where are you getting 12. I'm only seeing 8:

Since I don't have Dams shiney crystal ball to see into the future I will reserve judgment after this plays out next season.

Dam do you have any hair left or did you pull it all out?:D

Definitely disappointed in not getting a LT in either the draft or early free agency. Not so upset with Paye but Dayo is an injured reach. I know it’s too early to judge but it feels like a wasted pick. Would have rather given up a pick or two to move up a few spots for a position as important as LT.

He likely did, but the tackle run happened right in front of him. He just gambled and lost on the depth of the class. Villanueva and Okung were likely his backup plan all along.

In all fairness Ballard has done quite well in the past so I’ll reserve judgement but I do have serious concerns.

Still have plenty of hair, but starting to doubt Ballard's eye for edges. Hopefully these guys prove me wrong.

JAFF 04-30-2021 09:15 PM

I’m reading this and I’m reminded of Ghostbusters

Dr. Peter Venkman:
This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.

Mayor:
What do you mean, "biblical"?

Dr Ray Stantz:
What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff.

Dr. Peter Venkman:
Exactly.

Dr Ray Stantz:
Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling.

Dr. Egon Spengler:
Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes...

Winston Zeddemore:
The dead rising from the grave.

Dr. Peter Venkman:
Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

Unpucker your a holes, it will be fine.

They will move Smith. Finding a RT isnt as hard. Hells bells play a TE on the right and run the ball and go RPO or just straight play action. This isnt Armafricken gedon

I agree about trading but with us lacking a 3rd round pick and covid concerns it may not have been in the cards.

Oldcolt 04-30-2021 09:16 PM

If Ballard had really liked on of these tackles we would have had him. Dude moves up when he wants to. He plays the long game, using a second on a guy who wont get his explosion back until 2022 or 23. He did say way back that he likes linemen.

Couldn't agree more. We lose our starting LT to retirement at conveniently the deepest LT draft class in history and fail to replace him. Fucking Turrible.

Actually for as good as Ballard has been at drafting overall, he's been really bad at drafting pass rushers. Basham was a wasted draft pick, Banogu looks to be the same, and Lewis has been average at best when he's not a healthy scratch. Turray looks to be ok if he can stay healthy and stop jumping offsides on 4th down. Hopefully this year's class will buck that trend, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

AND they spent draft capital to get a QB who was not a fossil. See that must be part of the equation. Ballard found his QB early, and now he is playing the hand he has left.

Eh. He didnt have capital to move up in second. He didnt think any were first rounder, ok. He bet one of those guys would be available at 54 and lost. Time to move on.

Exactly, go sign Villanueva or Okung and attack the position as best you can next year.

Trading our 3rd round pick had nothing to do with him passing on Darrisaw for a project DE. Also, the Browns gave up a 3rd but got Carolina's 4th in the deal to move up 7 spots. I'm sure we could have moved up 2 spots (or more to get Cosmi) despite us not having a 3rd this year.

Thats what you think, but not able to prove. Moving up takes leverage. They spent picks for a new QB which get expensive if he plays well.

Its always easier to spend someone elses money, not having your own cash in the pot

Even if we weren't able to move up (although again based on what the Browns did we should have been able to) we still could have picked Darrisaw and been done with the LT replacement, which is now a fucking mess.

Dam8610 04-30-2021 10:46 PM

Milton Williams in the top 75 picks. He could be a monster, especially learning from Fletcher Cox.

Dam8610 04-30-2021 11:21 PM

Fuck it, all Edge draft, go grab Elerson Smith in Round 4.
