Yeah, but spending $2.5m on a backup player for soecial teams could easily br filled by someone making less than $1m per year.

At $2.5m, they are banking they get some pass rush out of him, IMO.

Why no on Levy? He's likely to be cheap, and can be a camp cut if he gets hurt again. If he can regain his pre injury form, or even close to it, he's head and shoulders better than what's on the roster now. If I'm signing him, though, I don't necessarily consider the position addressed.

If they do land romo, he only has 1-2 years left even if he doesnt get hurt, which he will. We arent poised to really contend this year so if he stays healthy and they do well, then whatever. I am not to worried it.

Hopefully the NFL finds the trade and dump of salary illegal, and make the Texans take Osweiler and his huge contract back.

It's a gamble. The Colts have a bit of cap room to gamble at this point. Sure, it's unlikely to pay off, but if it does...

I don't know if I would consider any position we address on defense as "addressed."

We HAVE to draft and develop young studs all levels of the defense before it is fixed.

I think its 2M + 500k in incentives. if he replaces a backup/ST player making 1M, then its a 1M gamble he provides more than that. If he hits his targets (assuming they are worthy targets) then we got something for our 2.5M. If he doesnt then we "lost" 1M.

If Pagano ever reaches the mediocre level, it will be a vast improvement.

A position can be temporarily addressed. Most free agents make their money as a team's "stopgap solution" until such time as the team can invest the draft resources it needs to into the position. Addressing something for 2017 isn't necessarily addressing it long term. That said, even by that definition, if I sign DeAndre Levy to play ILB, I'm still looking for at least 2 starting ILBs for 2017.

I read there isnt a savings to releasing jones now vs later so they might hold on to him for a while until a replacement can be found and solidified.

Looks like Dont'a Hightower will sign with the Titans.

I guess we had no interest.
