I called JJ to the cards when he got released.

For those of you who think this is just about money, think on it.

The one thing the Cards lacked to get into the playoff's last year was defense.

Not the same team as the 2000's Colts, but built similar.

They now have a high powered offense, with bookend pass rushers.

In one of the toughest divisions in football, still makes no sense they’re probably gonna lose Peterson so their backend isn’t shit other than Baker.

Oh well your paying for the name at this point in his career probably for the better we didn’t get him

I agree. One year older and injury prone for about 16 million per year makes no sense for the Colts IMHO!

I never saw JJ going to a division rival. He’s too loyal to the Texans.

In the end, JJ Watt signs with the Cardinals for ~$15M a year.

A few additional details about Watt's contract:

Watt will only count $4.9M on the 2021 cap by structuring the contract as a 5 year deal. Arizona added 3 dummy voidable years to the contract to spread out the signing bonus. This will result in a $7.2M dead money charge in 2023.

We will probably see other teams use this same strategy to sign free agents this year.

Since the Colts need to sign a few D players of their own, I hope so

It does bite you in the ass when you take the hit at the end of the contract.
