As I said in the game thread, a dominant offensive line changes so much about a team, on offense and on defense. Is there anyone who still wants to argue that Nelson was overvalued at #6?

That streak staggers the mind.

I argued for Nelson before the draft. Te future of this team is Andrew Luck, this year and hopefully many years to come.

In the Colts' previous meeting with the Texans on September 30th, Luck was sacked 4 times ........ but he also attempted 62 passes, for an average of 1 sack every 15 and-a-half dropbacks.

In the Colts' most recent game against the Jaguars last Sunday, Luck was sacked 3 times in 52 pass attempts en route to what was by far his WORST game of the season.

I believe that the offensive line will need to be at (or near) the top of its game when the Colts take take field in southeastern Texas on Sunday in order for the team to have a realistic chance of winning ........ and Luck is going to need to be considerably better than he was last week against the Jaguars.

And, for another O-Line factoid:

Quote:

The Colts have rushed for at least 200 yards three times in a season for the first time since 1988, and each time behind Castonzo, Nelson, Kelly, Glowinski and Smith.
Strap up, Freaks! The next couple of years is going to be a wild ride! :)

The future is so bright, I gotta triple up!!!:cool::cool:

Walk Worthy,

Walk Worthy,

Wow.... this Line can make Marlon Mack look Like Eric Dickerson :-)

And another one:

Quote:

In year 2, Mack has shown a willingness to work between the tackles, a patience to follow his blockers, the shiftiness to make defenders miss and the speed to break long runs. He had seven 20-plus runs in the regular season, and three more at Houston. He’s had only 12 negative attempts.
12 out of 195 rushing attempts. Against some of the talented front-7s we have faced? That is somewhat amazing.

This O-line.... :)

Walk Worthy,

Kravitz wrote an article on The Athletic (paywall) regarding Braden Smith.

Quote:

Give Smith credit first and foremost, but there are others. First, there’s Indy’s director of college scouting, Morocco Brown, who wore out GM Chris Ballard with his preseason insistence that Smith could play right tackle. Smith has been coached and tutored by offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo and injured Colts guard Matt Slauson, who has become something of an assistant coach without the title.

With all our talk about how good a job Ballard has done, I think we don't get enough insight into his staff and how important they have been. Sounds like Brown was a big advocate for Smith, Hines, and Cain based on this and previous reports.

Hopefully other teams don't catch on to that. Those were good finds.
