In hindsight, the benching of Anthony Richardson appears to have been hypocritical ...... in fact, it was hypocritical in the first place, but now it appears to be even more hypocritical.

Richardson was benched for audibling out of a dumb-ass pass play that Steichen called for a different dumb-ass pass play of his own, and throwing an INT right before halftime against the Texans ....... so he was benched for audibling out of one dumb-ass decision by the coach (to pass the ball to one receiver) for an equally dumb-ass decision of his own (to pass the ball to a different receiver.)


So if Richardson gets benched for being equally as dumb as Steichen, why is Taylor not benched for being 10 times a dumb as either of them ???

He was a real nice guy but lost the team. I'm sure Steichen is a nice guy too. I suspect he doesn't have the respect of his team tho. Indy seems to be a great place for a player/coach/general manager to collect a check. Not a great place if you're looking for on field success. The organization just doesn't seem to have a winning culture. For this simple minded man I don't claim to have an easy solution but as an observer of the game for 50+ years I can tell you what obviously doesn't work and I'm sure it's quite evident to most of you that the Irsays can't see the obvious or just don't really care as long as they are making a profit and can say "I own an NFL team."

It wasn't Irsay, it wasn't Dungy, it wasn't Polian. It was Manning himself, he was the de facto entire organization. It was PM's way or the eventual highway.

Luck, although a lot nicer about it and more political was much the same, as was Rivers. There is not one leader of men on this entire team.

What identity does the current version of the Colts have? Nothing, because they stand for nothing and are nothing in the eyes of the NFL. Only transcendent players can change that.

Maybe there is a transcendent coach out there that can, but I can't name him.
