I'm with you, since they were practicing for a couple of hours before the game, they can't be that stupid, and if they are, I'm not as optimistic about the future as I was before that game.

You're assuming the field conditions were a constant. With falling snow and a heated field, it's very likely that the conditions deteriorated after warm-ups.

Maybe so, but NFL teams have nearly unlimited equipment resources, so the idea that they would bring only one set of cleats to an NFL playoff game in highly volatile weather conditions sounds insane to me. I just can't imagine that it's true.

I haven't seen it or heard it anywhere else. Seems like if it was a serious thing and not just an offhanded "Yeah the field was a mess and we struggled, guess we wore the wrong cleats" kind of comment, it would've come up on Twitter, or another interview show, or a news article. Something.

I'd like to hear one of these types of stories after a team WINS the game ........ "We brought the wrong cleats, but we won the game in spite of that."

Rams Quarterback Jared Goff ........

“So, I guess I will tell you this, I wouldn’t have if we had lost, but right before we went out there on the first drive, my helmet went dead. The headset went dead. So I was wearing Sean Mannion’s helmet for the first drive.”

Those headsets seem to go out all the time

Hard to believe a $10 billion a year business can't seem to find a way to get headsets working right

I also don't buy the "Wrong cleats" story.

Eric Ebron didn't drop that first pass that would have been a first down because of the wrong cleats.

Your ebron example is irrelevant and makes nonsense

Actually I think if you are focused on not slipping it may take some focus off the ball and make it more likely you drop it. The story may be true but I doubt it. Either way I don’t give a shit now. I’m wanting to see if Ballard can find us a pass rusher. I have some hope that Turay or Lewis can make a big second year jump. I think there is better than a 50% chance one of them does. It’s fairly common.

If we can get the DE spot opposite Sheard nailed down, then Lewis will be moving inside to the UT position.
