Shitting the bed week 1 is simply not an option. If we can't manage a division road game against a team whose best prospects for the 2022 season is a good pick for the 2023 draft, we have zero chance of beating the Chiefs in week 3.

On a more serious note, the Colts lost the 2019 season opener to the Chargers, and beat the Chiefs one month later ...... in Kansas City ...... with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback.

The Chiefs wound up winning the Super Bowl that year, the Colts finished the season with a mediocre 7-9 record, and the Chargers went 4-11 for the rest of that season after beating the Colts in the opening game ...... if nothing else, the recent Colts teams have been pretty fucking weird, to say the least.

They won 3 consecutive season openers en-route to 3 consecutive AFC East titles in 1975, 1976, and 1977 ...... with a precedent as recent as that, I don't see any reason why the Colts can't win their season opener this year.

We've actually had more recent opening game success than that as back in the good ole Peyton days we won 5 straight openers from '99-'03 and 8 of 9 from '99-'07 (would have won in '04 too at the Cheats but Edge fumbled twice inside the 5 and Vaderjerk shanked a game tying FG). Overall, we were 9-4 in openers w/ Peyton starting.

The NFL set us up nicely to get off to a really good start, but we'll probably blow the opportunity and shit the bed week 1 and at Jax like we always do

I hope he doesn't get used to standing on the sidelines while pulling in major $$$.
