Right after I posted it, I considered editing it to say a playoff team, but I thought it went without saying.

define "end" of the regular season.

If the Colts were 2-2 right now, considering their schedule, I think we would all be feeling pretty good....they just need to steal a game that nobody expects them to win! No better time than Monday Night Football!

What is there to define?? We see it every year.... Again let's use the Bucs last year.... They were 7-5 and noone had them pegged as the eventual SB champion then the won 4 in a row to "end" the regular season. Went into the playoffs as a hot team.... We see it nearly every year.

I think that the Colts had hope before dominating the Dolphins ...... the win was desperately needed because of their 0-3 start to the season, but the Colts going right down to the wire against the Rams, coupled with Carson Wentz' lack of mobility (due to ankle injuries) against the Titans told me that they were not nearly as bad as their 0-3 record might suggest.

The Colts blew a very large lead against the Ravens last night, in similar fashion to the very large lead that they blew against the Steelers late in the 2020 season, a loss which cost them the AFC South title. That's the bad news.

The good news is that outside of a few extremely optimistic homers like myself, most Colts fans would have thought that it was an alternate universe in which they had a 22-3 lead late in the 3rd quarter against the Ravens, with an offense led by Lamar Jackson and a defense that was regarded as among one of the best in the AFC.

Subsequently, I'm still not ready to give up on the 2021 season. Outside of the Dolphins game, the Colts' early-season schedule has been rather challenging, to say the least. If they can beat the Texans next week, that will perhaps take this season off of the life-support that it is currently on, and move it to critical condition ...... that said, it is imperative that they win 4 out of their next 5 games, specifically the 4 games against fellow AFC teams (the rematch against the Titans, the game against the Texans, the game against the Jaguars, and the game against the Jets.) The only "affordable" loss in that 5-game span is an out-of-conference match against the 49ers, although it would suck pretty badly should the Colts lose that one and be sitting at 2-5 overall after 7 games.

They also got extremely lucky in that their last two opponents in the playoffs had backup tackles at both ends of the line.

Of whom happened to be a 39 year-old Philip Rivers, who was the most mobile quarterback that the NFL has seen since Dan Marino.
