I want to give some props to the Colt front office. Seems like a very professional group. You know that this quarterback situation is their top priority and yet nothing has leaked from them. There really are no tea leaves to read yet.

I've speculated elsewhere that this might just be coach-speak designed to both encourage Eason to keep working hard and also to not tip our hand about draft or free agency plans.

If that was the case they would be looking at a vet QB to come in and help mentor him.

This I agree with. The fact that we know literally nothing about what their plans are speaks volumes.

That is, assuming they have some sort of plan.

I just didn't see the same pattern back before we signed Rivers. There, there were reports of their interest in him.

There are reports of their interest in Stafford out now. A lot of teams seem interested. I don’t think they talk. But GB was pretty sure we would take Love at our pick and ive heard other reporters say we were interested in WR Tee Higgins. But it’s all speculative. I don’t know for sure how good they are at not tipping their hand.

I was thinking Darnold might be plan B. Not as good as Stafford. But he’s 23 with three seasons under his belt. Depends what the jets do at 2.

Rumor of 49ers offer for Stafford is

2021: 2nd and 3rd
2022: 2nd and 3rd

Per Vincent Frank

We can and should be able to top that.

Not the worst idea

Don't know who this guy is, but if that is true a points per pick chart has SF #2 at 460 and #3 at 210 this year. Colts #1 this year is worth 800 points. It all depends on what else the Colts need to add. Probably a #2 (#2 this year is worth 370), maybe get away with a #3 (our 3 this year is worth 165). If SF finished with the #28 pick next year their #2 and #3 pick would be with 300 and 132 points respectively. Is Stafford worth a #1 and a #2?
