I think teams don't have any tape on their new system. Lets see how they do after mid-season where teams can start to prepare for them properly.

The team is devoid of any type of alpha player that can shift momentum. I hate every loss, but once the reality hits the girls and they see all the Ballard promises are just trolling bullshit, he and SS will finally be shit canned, and that will be a great day for this city!

We’re just not very good. We may bounce back and win 8 or 9 games but this team, as currently constructed, will never seriously contend.

We have to gut everything and start over.

Yes, I guess if understanding that every single player and coach has came under Ballard’s tenure is surface level consider me guilty. If understanding won loss records is surface level, again guilty. But hey at least my number one defense of a guy isn’t “he’s liked by Polian”.

It’s funny, my surface level knowledge predicted mediocrity for Ballard since his second offseason. Yeah, I’ve really missed the mark there…. In my defense at the time I didn’t realize Polian liked him.

Josh McDaniels was one of the most pursued assistant coaches in the entire league. You act like that was out of left field, it wasn't. He was turning down teams every year. Now I lived in Denver at the time he was there. I personally saw what he did and thought he was a bad coach. But not the rest of the league, he was on every team's top five list of coaches except maybe the Broncos. I thought they dodged a bullet there anyway.

You don't know who sets a depth chart, you don't how basic stuff in football works and blame the GM for everything. Even on this team. You dismiss the opinions of guys that worked in the field at the highest level for their entire lives simply because it doesn't match your perception. You are an example of whats wrong with the internet, giving voice to the uninformed and everyone thinks they are an expert. I bet you walk into the hospital and tell doctors how to perform a surgery. You've yet to prove your opinion should be valued at all.

Sure, you are a nostradamus of football predictions. Should you hang a banner?

They made adjustments. Like I said, no one has tape on this Ravens team and their schemes. Its a built in advantage for the first half of the season. Still there are issues. Walley looked like a rookie who got hurt in his first season and they went after him. Tillery is a run liability. Mooney Ward looked disintered.

Also they turned the ball over in their territory. You can't do that and expect to win the game.

Anyway, long season to go.

The Ravens had over 200 yards rushing. That had nothing to do with scheme. That was just them running over us.

Yes Polian’s opinion matters more than Ballards actual results. He’s a good GM who has one playoff win and no division titles in a decade - in arguably the worst division in the league. His teams are consistently less than the supposed sum of their parts. There are many teams that have bottomed out and had more success, but hey Polian likes him. How many wins is that worth? Should we hang a banner?

Well if you are measuring the worth of opinions, I know Polian's is worth more than yours. Do you think your opinion is worth a couple wins.

Hankins? Well first of all, a new GM comes in and gets rid of the contracts of the old GM. That's standard operating procedure.

Second, Hankins also didn't fit Eberflus' system as a NT we were paying 30 million. It had nothing to do with veterancy and was about positional fit and salary cap.

Third, we replaced him with 4th round pick Grover Stewert who has become one of the best NT's in the league. I would say thats a win.

Eberflus' system wanted zone corners and you don't have to spend a lot of money on zone corners unlike man corners. Hence we just moved to man and we are spending a lot of money on man corners now. Different coaches and systems place differing importance on position groups.

Yeah Dayo and Paye, we drafted two big bodied DE's that can play the run and hold the edge like Eberflus wanted. We used rookies to fill a position group like EVERY other team has to do at some point. You keep expecting the Colts to not have to do that. They are not a unicorn that gets to ignore the standard practices the rest of the league also follows.

You think you are saying something here, but it's just saying "I don't like to listen to the opinions of people that know more than me."

Funny thing is I'm not necessarily opposed to moving on from Ballard. Eventually every tenure runs its course. I just get irritated by the uninformed drivel that comes out of the Colts fanbase because Indiana is an insular state and the fans only seem to follow one team and don't pay attention to football in general. Well, maybe two teams, since the Hoosiers miraculously won a championship.

I know it's the first game but for me (not in the viewing area) it's going to be another season of ignoring the Colts.

How long a leash is there for the current front office?

During the last preseason game they interviewed Carlie Irsay for about 15 minutes, it sounded like she loves Ballard, I think we may have to wait until he retires.

That's inflated because of a running QB like Jackson will always add 50+. But yeah Henry had a good day like he mostly does. The inability to stop the passing allowed the run lanes to be wider and that is what I'm more worried about. And the passing was easier for them because there is no tape on their system. Cause and effect casused a cascade failure.
