Can the player who knocked it back into the playing field be the first to touch it after he stepped out of bounds? That’s the only possible explanation I can think of.

Clown shoes at the Indy nascar race. A curb/chicane on the track has been ripped up and just destroyed like 8 cars. Ripped them to shreds as they drove over it.
